Meet Your Specialist
Hello. I’m Chyvonne, also known as CiCi, and welcome to CálmaTe Mind & Body. I opened this clinic because caring for others is what I do best. I’m passionate about helping people feel better in their bodies and minds, and massage and bodywork are the tools I have chosen to do that work.

After completing massage school in 2005, I earned an Associate’s degree in Natural Health in 2008 and a Bachelor’s degree in Global Security and Intelligence in 2012. As an Integrative Pain and Wellness Specialist, my work focuses on stress and pain management, sports and therapeutic massage, and neuromuscular techniques. I take an intentional, assessment driven approach rather than a one size fits all routine. My background in critical thinking, analysis, and crisis management shapes how I listen, assess, and work through more complex or persistent issues, allowing each session to be thoughtful, responsive, and grounded.

My interest in massage and bodywork began through my own experiences with sports related injuries and surgeries. Through that process, I saw firsthand how transformative massage can be, not only for healing but also for maintaining overall well-being. That perspective continues to guide how I work with every client who comes through my door. Whether you are recovering from an injury, managing chronic pain, maintaining an active lifestyle, or simply needing space to decompress, each session is tailored to your unique needs.

Thank you for stopping by and taking a moment to get to know me a little better. I appreciate you considering including me as part of your wellness journey and look forward to working with you and supporting you in feeling your best.

Frequently Asked Questions
What should I expect before and at my first massage session?
Before your first session, you’ll complete a health history intake form and sign required waivers and agreements. You’ll receive a confirmation email along with appointment reminders by email and text. The health history intake form must be completed in advance of your appointment. If the intake is not completed on time, services may need to be rescheduled. Additional consent forms may be reviewed and signed at the time of your appointment, depending on services provided. At the start of your appointment, we’ll have a brief consultation to review your intake, discuss your concerns, and identify areas of focus for your session. It’s important to disclose all health conditions past and present, along with medications and allergies, so your session can be approached safely and thoughtfully. If needed, massage mediums such as oils or creams can be adjusted based on sensitivities.
Will the intake process/consultation take time from my massage?
No. The hands-on portion of your massage will match the duration you selected when booking. Before your session begins, a brief consultation takes place to review your health history, discuss your goals, and address any relevant updates. After the session, a short debrief may occur to review findings, offer aftercare suggestions, or discuss next steps as appropriate. Consultation, preparation, sanitation, and debrief time are not counted toward hands-on massage time. Because of this, your total appointment time will be longer than the service length selected. Clients should plan accordingly and avoid scheduling commitments immediately before or after their appointment.
What can Massage and Bodywork treat and how can they help me?
Massage and bodywork can benefit people of all ages and address a wide range of concerns, including inflammatory conditions, stress, insomnia, headaches and migraines, muscle tension, repetitive strain injuries, circulation issues, pregnancy-related discomfort, back pain, nerve compression, and anxiety. Beyond symptom relief, massage supports overall wellness by improving mobility, reducing pain, enhancing relaxation, and helping the body function more efficiently.
Should I and/or is it ok to talk during a massage?
Yes. This is entirely up to you. Some clients prefer a quiet environment to fully relax, while others enjoy light conversation to feel more at ease. Your practitioner will respect your preference and keep communication focused on your comfort and the session itself. During focused therapeutic sessions, communication may be more interactive as specific concerns are addressed. Whether you prefer silence, brief check-ins, or conversation in between, the goal is always your comfort.
How often should I receive a massage?
The frequency of massage depends on your needs and goals. For general wellness or stress management, once or twice a month is often sufficient. For high-stress lifestyles, physically demanding work, or chronic issues, weekly or biweekly sessions may be more effective, especially in the beginning. Massage benefits are cumulative. More frequent sessions may be helpful initially, followed by longer intervals as your body adapts. Your practitioner may also recommend stretches or self-care strategies to support results between appointments.
Are there any conditions where massage might not be suitable?
Yes. Massage is not recommended for certain medical conditions. These may include fever or contagious illness, recent injuries or surgeries, severe or unmanaged medical conditions, or conditions involving blood clots. If you are unsure whether massage is appropriate for you, please discuss your situation with your practitioner in advance so we can determine the safest approach.
